We are Eric and Lauren Kinne, and we love helping students be successful. We’re lifetime educators residing in Fairfax County, Virginia, and for the last 20 years, we’ve been successfully guiding high school students through their educational journeys.
Eric is a nationally-recognized educator with extensive experience supporting students as they navigate the complex – and often stressful – college application process. As a former high school English teacher and current Director of a College Success Program, Eric has led hundreds of students to success. He has deep knowledge of the college admissions process and knows what college admissions officers are looking for in future students. Eric brings this knowledge and experience to every individualized interaction he has with NavWay students. He was a U.S. Department of Education Teaching Ambassador Fellow and multiple-time Teacher of the Year. He holds a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and a master’s degree from Harvard University.
Lauren is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) who has been teaching for over 20 years. She specializes in advanced placement biology and advanced genetics. In this role and her position as the Science Department Chair, she has helped countless students get into college by revising essays, preparing them for entrance exams, and writing letters of recommendation. She was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year at Justice High School in 2012 and at Woodson High School in 2019 and again in 2024. She was a finalist for the Teach For America Alumni Award and recommended for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation’s highest commendation for science teachers. Most importantly, she loves helping students reach their full potential and thinks that high schoolers are the best. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree from George Mason University.
